What happens during the treatment
Your visit begins with a consultation and review of the area you would like treated. Your provider will assess your skin, hair characteristics, medical history, recent sun exposure, and goals before confirming whether treatment is appropriate.
The treatment area is cleansed and prepared, and protective eyewear is provided. Your provider then works systematically across the area using controlled laser pulses to target the hair follicles.
The length of the appointment depends on the size and number of areas being treated. Smaller areas may be completed relatively quickly, while larger or multiple areas require more time.
Before you leave, your provider will explain what to expect after treatment and review your post-treatment instructions.
What to expect
Laser hair removal is a process rather than a one-time appointment. Because individual hairs move through different growth cycles, multiple treatments are normally needed to address more of the active hair.
Many treatment plans begin with approximately 6 to 8 sessions. The exact number needed depends on the treatment area, hair thickness, skin and hair characteristics, hormonal factors, hair-growth cycle, and individual response.
Hair reduction develops progressively. Some treated hair may shed gradually after the appointment, and future regrowth may appear finer, lighter, or less noticeable.
Maintenance treatments may eventually be recommended, particularly in areas affected by hormonal hair growth.
After treatment, the skin may temporarily appear red, warm, slightly swollen, itchy, or sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. These effects are generally temporary and may settle within several hours.
Less common reactions can include pigment changes, crusting, inflammation, or blistering. Clients should contact Renewd if they experience an unexpected, severe, or persistent reaction.

How to prepare
- Protect the treatment area from direct sun exposure and tanning for at least four weeks before your appointment.
- Do not use tanning beds or self-tanning products on the treatment area before treatment.
- Shave the treatment area approximately 24 hours before your appointment unless your provider gives you different instructions.
- Do not wax, tweeze, thread, sugar, or use electrolysis on the area for approximately six weeks before treatment. These methods remove the hair root that the laser needs to target.
- Arrive with clean skin. Do not apply makeup, lotion, oil, deodorant, fragrance, or other products to the treatment area unless your provider has instructed you otherwise.
- Tell Renewd about all medications and supplements you take, including aspirin, prescription blood thinners, antibiotics, acne medications, and medications that may increase sensitivity to light.
- Do not stop a prescribed medication or blood thinner unless the clinician who prescribed it tells you to do so.
- Please tell Renewd if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have recently tanned or had a sunburn, have an active rash or infection, have a history of cold sores or abnormal scarring, or recently had another procedure in the treatment area.
- Treatment may need to be postponed if the skin is tanned, sunburned, irritated, injured, or otherwise not ready to be treated.
